Gadzoosdaa Eligibility Criteria
 
A student may be eligible for student accommodation if the following criteria are met:

  1. The student must be enrolled in grade 10, 11 or 12 on a full-time basis
*ILC and Youth Achievement center are not eligible*
  1. The student must be 18 years old (and zero days) or younger on the first day of school.
  2. The student must be a Yukon Resident whose primary residence is outside of the Whitehorse catchment area.
  3. The student may not have a custodial parent or guardian that lives within the Whitehorse school catchment area.
  4. The students must have at least 80 Percent attendance and at least 75% percent or better completion of course work. 
  5. All dorm enrolment is on a semester-by-semester basis with a student review of attendance, work completion and ability to follow the student handbook taking place between semesters and/or school years.
 
Admissions Priority
 
Student will be considered and prioritized for Gadzoosdaa student residence based on the following criteria:

  1. Students whose community does offers a limited 10,11 or 12 program.                                                                                                                                     Beaver Creek, Carcross, Kluane Lake, Old Crow, Ross River, Teslin,
  2. Students whose community offers a full 10, 11 or 12 Program and further academic courses are required.                                                                   Carmacks, Dawson City, Faro, Haines Junction, Mayo, Pelly Crossing, Watson Lake
  3. Students whose community does not provide speciality programs such as: ACES, Sports School, Wood Street, Indigenous Academy and so on.
  4. Students who are residents of Atlin, B.C. who have enrolled in a Whitehorse school full time.
 
General Information

  1. Dorm fees are $150 per month and may be paid either by the parent or First Nation.
  2. Students from Atlin BC are charged $470.00 which may be covered by the Stikine School District.
  3. The dorm fee applies if the student is in the residence for 5 days in a month.
  4. New applicants for Gadzoosdaa cannot displace students already enrolled at Gadzoosdaa.
  5. All students must comply with the requirements outline in the Gadzoosdaa Student Handbook.
  6. Late applications will generate a secondary priority list using the same criteria as above.  If applicants are identical, the earlier submission date will be used to prioritize the waitlist.
  7. Students must reapply every year
